A Western Cape serial rapist, who raped two women while out on bail for another rape, was handed two life terms and five years' imprisonment.
According to the Western Cape's National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, April broke into a 20-year-old woman's house in 2017, stole her goods and then raped her. Ntabazalila said that, while April was out on bail in 2017, he entered a 26-year-old woman's house, and raped and assaulted her in November of that year.
Ntabazalila said April later pleaded guilty to the rape of the 20-year-old woman and was sentenced to 10 years for rape and five years for housebreaking. "After many challenges, including the accused changing legal representative, he pleaded not guilty to the two counts of rape and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm." The prosecutor, Hyron Goulding, said April denied committing the offences.
