INQUEST | Judge says the coroner erred in rejecting the application to recall Dr Ahmad Hafizam Hasmi to the stand.
| The Kuala Lumpur High Court today allowed Kuala Lumpur Hospital forensic expert Dr Ahmad Hafizam Hasmi to be recalled to the inquest into the death of firefighter Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim.
“Based on what was given, the coroner should not have decided that it was enough, because there are new things that need to be explained by the 24th witness. On April 23, Hamdan filed an application with the High Court to review coroner Rofiah Mohamad’s decision in rejecting his application to recall the 23rd and 27th witnesses.
This was after hearing the testimony of the 29th witness, retired senior forensic and pathology consultant Dr Shahrom Abd Wahid. "How did the 29th witness make the factual findings? This needs to be explained by the 24th witness," he said. Meanwhile, lawyer Mohd Kamaruzaman A Wahab, representing Adib's family, told the court that all witnesses had testified, and there was no need for the court to ask Hamdan if there were any more witnesses to be called.
