Twenty leading privacy and consumer groups are formally calling on the FTC to investigate TikTok, alleging that the wildly popular video app is both violating federal children’s privacy law and its 2019 COPPA settlement with the agency
. So far, about $33 million of the program’s available $200 million has been doled out to 82 providers in 30 states. The largest chunks of funding in this sixth round of grants went to facilities in Alabama, Georgia, Massachusetts, Ohio, Texas and Utah., the pandemic has scrambled the FCC’s plans to move its large workforce from its Portals building near Washington, D.C.’s L’Enfant Plaza to the NoMa neighborhood near Union Station, originally slated to happen next month.
Part of the thinking, per Pai, is to give workers time to pack their old offices following the lockdown period.
