The result placed the five-bedroom, four-bathroom heritage-protected Victorian mansion home on the short-list for the Australian Interior Design Awards, and landed it in architectural publications including theThe contemporary extension – which relocates and centres the kitchen zone – re-used red brick, concrete and zinc cladding to echo the original palette of red brick and slate roofing.
“We had huge numbers on the weekend – and no one could criticise it,” Mr Stubbings said. “It was always one of the prettiest homes in Armadale, and the transformation they have done to retain the original charm and modernise it is as good as I have ever seen.” Mr Stubbings said the inner south-east suburb Armadale had transformed to become one of Melbourne’s most desirable lifestyle suburbs.
