A Correctional Officer attached to the Burra Correctional Centre in Bauchi State has reportedly killed a fellow officer following a minor dispute over food. The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, around 2pm in Burra town, Ningi Local Government Area.

According to an eyewitness who wished to remain anonymous, the deceased officer, Aliyu Abubakar Chiroma, and his colleague, Kabiru Abubakar, were known to be close friends within the correctional facility. The altercation reportedly began when Chiroma brought his lunch, and Kabiru insisted on eating, which led to a heated argument between the duo.

The Public Relations Officer of the correctional centre, Aminu Ahmed, who confirmed the incident to our reporter, clarified that it occurred outside the correctional facility. He noted that Chiroma, the deceased, hailed from Giade LGA, while the suspect, Kabiru Abubakar, is from Dass LGA, saying both officers were posted to Burra Correctional Centre.
