Sean Wilson played Martin Platt for 20 years before departing in 2005 - he was set to return as part of Gail Platt's exit storyline but has now stepped away from filming
The character was set to reappear on screen in October as part of the departure storyline of his character's ex-wife, Gail Platt.
An initial announcement said Wilson was to start filming scenes on July 24, with a storyline featuring his on-screen son David shocked to find his father at the house and immediately suspicious about his return to their lives. Wilson had previously played Martin for 20 years from 1985 to 2005. It is not yet known what Worth's replacement exit storyline will be, but ITV previously promised a "major storyline for the Platt family".
They wrote: " Coronation Street legend Helen Worth celebrates her golden anniversary on the show next month, and it will be a momentous occasion for her in more ways than one.
