KUALA LUMPUR: The police have been urged to investigate PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang over his statement that the Opposition has every right to topple the unity government.
Amanah exco member Fadhli Umar Aminolhuda said Abdul Hadi went against the wish of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, in making such a statement."It is very unbecoming of an MP to make a statement saying there are efforts by the Opposition to topple the government," he said after lodging a police report against Abdul Hadi at Dang Wangi police headquarters on Wednesday .
He hoped that the police would investigate Abdul Hadi and those actively trying to topple a government that was formed legitimately.Selangor PKR Youth chief Izuan Kasim said Abdul Hadi's recent statement was a complete disrespect towards the Yang di-Pertuan Agong."We urge the police to investigate the matter as soon as possible," he said.On Monday , Abdul Hadi told reporters in the Parliament lobby that no one can stop the Opposition from making plans to topple the government.
Despite criticism of his remarks, the PAS president said his claim was"merely political" and"normal" in politics. During his debate on Budget 2023 on Feb 28, the Marang MP told the Dewan Rakyat that Perikatan Nasional should not be blamed if the government collapsed.At another event subsequently, he repeated his prediction that the current administration would fall soon.
On March 3, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said it was Abdul Hadi's right to plan and dream of the government collapsing.
