KUALA LUMPUR: The police are looking for people who recorded a viral video of an attack on two Indonesian fans on the same day as the recent World Cup Qualifier match between Malaysia vs Indonesia.
Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed said while it was claimed that the incident had taken place post-match, investigations revealed that it had happened in Bukit Bintang at 2am, hours before the game kicked-off at 8.45pm on Nov 19.Separately, police arrested 27 Malaysian and 14 Indonesian fans who caused chaos after the match.
Comm Huzir said investigations showed that the man had no intention to commit the violent act when he posted his status online. He said another Indonesian fan had also lodged a police report after he was allegedly attacked after the match and lost cash and his immigration card.Comm Huzir added that while there were reports of skirmishes on match day, police managed to keep it under control and reminded the public to stop spreading false stories.
