ALOR GAJAH: Melaka police have released the identity of a woman whose dismembered body was discovered in a rubbish bin here on Dec 31, 2023.
Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the victim was identified as Johor teacher Istiqomah Ahmad Rozi, 30, who had been reported missing on Dec 27, 2023.Supt Ashari said the body was discovered along the Alor Gajah -Tampin Road, near Kampung Rimau, Pulau Sebang, here.
"The final identification process was made through a deoxyribonucleic acid test on the victim's mother on Aug 2 before police managed to detain two suspects over the murder case.Supt Ashari said a team from Johor and Melaka police contingents managed to track the suspects, who are a husband and wife, before detaining them in Chemor, Perak on Aug 4."The male suspect was a college mate of the victim and had business dealings with her," he said.
Supt Ashari said one of the suspects then led to the discovery of other parts of the victim's body, about 6km from the site where the body was initially found. He said the female suspect was released by the Alor Gajah court on Monday while her husband is expected to be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
