Cops nab man for burning party flags in Batu Pahat

BATU PAHAT: Police have arrested a 28-year-old man for burning a political party flag at Taman Mutiara, here.

"Initial investigations revealed that the suspect was drunk while being arrested," he said in a statement here on Sunday .

The case was investigated under Section 436 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy property, which carried a maximum jail term of 20 years and a fine upon conviction. "We are currently waiting for remand approval for the suspect to help with the investigations," he added.
