IPOH: A bank officer in Kuala Lumpur who used customers' information to apply for credit cards has been arrested.

The 31-year-old suspect, a marketing officer at the bank, is said to have spent over RM500,000 using the cards.

Taiping OCPD ACP Razlam Ab Hamid said the bank suffered losses amounting to RM563,422 after the suspect used 18 credit cards. He said the bank's investigation officer lodged a report on Jan 17 at the Taiping police district headquarters. "The commercial crime division carried out investigations under Section 420 of the Penal Code and the suspect was arrested in Jinjang, Kuala Lumpur at about 2.45pm on Monday .The suspect has been remanded for four days until March 3.
