KUALA LUMPUR: A man was arrested in Ampang Jaya for allegedly torching his brother's car in a dispute about family assets, says police.
Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Farouk Eshak said that the incident occurred at a house here on Friday .
He added in a statement on Sunday that at the scene in Taman Sri Watan, investigators found a blue container that had traces of oil, which they believed had been used to torch the car. “The car belonged to a 35-year-old lorry driver and losses were estimated to be around RM5,000. Burn marks were found at the left and right side of the car as well as the engine,” he said.“The cause of the fire is believed to have stemmed from a disagreement with his brother and revenge over matters involving family assets,” he said.
Checks showed that the suspect has three prior cases on his criminal record, and he has been remanded until Oct 18.
