The Federation of Livestock Farmers’ Associations of Malaysia has assured consumers that the supply of eggs will be sufficient and affordable following the easing of market prices this month.

“The role of poultry layer farms is to produce as many eggs as possible within the constraints of cost inputs to maintain a consistent supply for the market,” it said in a statement. The federation said that the laws of supply and demand determine market prices after production, explaining that they will drop as farms are unable to store their unsold eggs due to their perishable nature and this, therefore, leads to a lower uptake when there is an oversupply.
