Asked Wednesday on WPLR's Chaz & AJ in the Morning to describe the scene after"You walk around downtown Houston, which is butt ugly, not much there..." the governor began, before the highly amused hosts cut him off.
"You know that's going to be tweeted," one of them said, laughing. "Get ready to hear from Houston. Houston, we have a problem.""Except for the UConn fans," he said."Everywhere you'd hear bouncing off of those big, empty walls, 'Let's go UConn, UConn Huskies.'" The interview on WPLR was actually Lamont's second radio appearance of the day — and the second in which he took a dig at Houston."You're walking around downtown Houston, it's kind of godforsaken, not very pretty, but everywhere you go you see people in a T-shirt and they see you right back and [say] 'UConn Huskies,'" he told Brian Schactman on WTIC's Brian and Company.
When he wasn't sharing his thoughts on Houston, Lamont described his experience at the Final Four, saying he briefly got nervous when San Diego State cut UConn's lead to five points late in the second half of the title game before the Huskies pulled away again., and believe me they wear their emotions on their sleeve," the governor told WPLR."I could feel the pressure from there.
