After three years of rescheduling due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Matchbox Twenty finally made their way to Blossom Music Center Tuesday night, this time in support of their 2023 album, Where the Light Goes. “We’re so glad we finally made it!” frontman Rob Thomas exclaimed. “Thank you for waiting for us!” Despite the rain and cool temperatures, droves of fans still showed up, decked out in ponchos and sweatshirts to experience some '90s nostalgia with hits like “How Far We’ve Come,” “Real World,” and “If You’re Gone”.

While obligatory newer material was still warmly received, there was no doubting what the crowd really wanted, and that was “Bent,” “Back 2 Good,” and “Long Day.” Matchbox Twenty packed a phenomenal encore by saving the best songs for last including “3 A.M.,” “Unwell,” “Push,” and “Bright Lights,” respectively.

Matt Nathanson opened the show, but provided more funny banter than music. The tour was originally scheduled to have The Wallflowers open, but after years of delay, Matt Nathanson stepped up. You’ll still be able to catch The Wallflowers on August 10 at the Kent Stage.Matchbox Twenty at Blossom, 6/13/23Judie VeghMatchbox Twenty at Blossom, 6/13/23Judie Vegh
