By Mike Szvetitz FrontPageBets The Philadelphia Eagles will look to move to 9-0 on the season Monday night as they face an NFC East rival in the Washington Commanders.But this is a different Commanders team than the one Philly faced seven weeks ago. Quarterback Taylor Heinicke came in for the injured Carson Wentz and, like he’s wont to do, sparked new life into a struggling squad.
In Monday night’s matchup, Philadelphia is favored by 11 points over Washington. The Eagles are 5-3 against the spread, but 4-0 as the home favorite. They are 1-1 ATS when favored by double-digit points. Eagles QB Jalen Hurts over 1.5 touchdown passes In their first meeting, Philly quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for three touchdowns against the Commanders. He’s also 3-1 as a starting QB against Washington.
Washington’s defense has given up 16 touchdown passes this season, which is tied for second-worst in the league. In his three starts, Heinicke has done more with his arms than legs. But he does have a rushing touchdown to go with five passing TDs. He’s averaging 16.7 yards per game on the ground, with a season-high of 29 in the Week 8 win over Indianapolis. Last week, he rushed four times for 17 yards.
For the season, Smith is tied for second on the team with 40 receptions, averaging five catches per game. He also has the second-most targets of any pass-catcher with 53. Most of his catches come on first or second down.
