The Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported that the filing of certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang
Comelec chair George Garcia described the filing as “very peaceful.”
The poll chief also said that based on Comelec’s field reports the filing was “smooth” even in Mindanao. He also said the Comelec “did not anticipate the huge number of COC filers on the first day of the filing period.” ELECTION PERIOD STARTS. Commission on Elections chairman George Erwin Garcia reads some of the signatures on a huge tarpaulin display inside the Taguig Convention Hall that shows the covenant signed by Barangay and Sangguninan Kabataan Elections candidates after filing their certificates of candidacy. A checkpoint manned by Quezon City Police District personnel has been set up along Luzon Avenue in Quezon City on Monday for the BSKE.
Comelec Commissioner Rey Bulay, the Commissioner-in-Charge for the October 30 BSKE also said printing of additional official ballots for the BSKE 2023 has reached 100% which is intended for the new voters who registered from December 2022 to January 2023.
