It's a beautiful place to visit ... but are hauntings living there?
As really old homes go, the William Tanner House at the corner of Oak and Cedar streets in Aurora is a neat place to visit. It was built in 1857 by one of Aurora’s earliest and most prominent merchants — who raised nine of his his 10 children there, two of whom died in the home in 1934; as did William in 1892 and Anna in 1900.
This year’s event, “Tanner House Tour by Candlelight,” took on a subtle but different approach by dramatically turning down the electrical wattage … and offering the use of EMF meters. Which, without question, brought a different crowd through the doors.
