New system designed to thwart sales of duplicated tickets to begin in June; Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theater marks 35th anniversary
It is certainly frustrating when two or three or four, or more, concert attendees show up with a ticket for the same seat.
Dobesh was working on computer chainblock and 3-D technology in the Pentagon in 2017 and pondered possible adaptations of those technologies. Under the new system, purchased tickets aren’t delivered until a few days before the event and, once they are issued digitally, the QR code changes constantly so screen shots and printouts of the QR code are not valid for entry.
So far, 15 arts organizations have added True Tickets technology since 2020. The creators built in “friction points” to discourage scalpers from purchasing tickets.
