A man who was climbing with the woman had to be rescued from the side of Four Aces of Blitzen Ridge on Ypsilon Mountain in the Rockies.
BOULDER, Colorado — A 26-year-old woman died Sunday when she fell about 500 feet during a free-solo climb in the Rocky Mountains, according to the National Park Service.
The Colorado Air National Guard helicopter from Buckley Air Force Base used a winch-operated cable to lift the man to safety. The man used his cellphone to call for help after the woman’s fall. The park service did not release the identity of the woman or the man. The woman’s body was recovered and was taken to the Larimer County Coroner/Medical Examiner’s Office.
