The package also calls for renovations to existing buildings, infrastructural improvements and demolition of a learning resource center building, college services building, racquetball court and firing range. Because of capacity limitations at aging facilities, COM has been unable to tap into the demand for programs focused on hospitality management, aerospace/aviation and logistics, Burkett said.
The bond calls for demolishing the existing learning resource center, which the college says would have required extensive renovations and upgrades.The 50,000-square-foot building, which would cost $35.89 million, would house relocated programs and classes for law enforcement, fire protection technology and emergency medical services.
