Collaboration needed to unlock full potential of green hydrogen - Ramokgopa
Ramokgopa said collaboration between the private sector, government, province and the international community can help address the many socioeconomic challenges the country faces.Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, speaking at the second instalment of The Green Hydrogen Summit, drilled down the need for cooperation between the private sector, government and international partners to unlock South Africa's green hydrogen potential.
The minister underscored government's commitment to fostering collaboration, especially between the public and private sectors, a strategy that had already seen private sector involvement on a substantial scale.The minister further stressed government's intention to engage proactively with the business community to ensure alignment in their approaches toward green hydrogen exploitation.
The inaugural two-day summit, hosted in Cape Town, promises a series of significant agreements, with an anticipated accord between Sasol, BMW and Anglo-American related to the utilisation of green hydrogen in the transportation sector. Some of this, the minister said, has led to a tripartite agreement by the Northern Cape, Eastern Cape, and Western Cape.
