Cobra Kai ’s oddly broken-up final season was on top of Netflix’s Top 10 list for a while, but now it has been instantly unseated by the debut of a new comedy that definitely deserves the top spot., the new series from Mike Schur, probably the biggest force in half-hour comedy in the last decade as a producer on The Office, co-creator of Parks and Recreation and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, and creator of The Good Place.
The show has debuted with a stellar 95% critic and 96% audience score, and having just binged the whole thing, it definitely deserves it. It’s funny, thanks to the immeasurable talents of Ted Danson, but also a poignant exploration of the loneliness of aging, something you’ll rarely see addressed in a series like this. It seems like a shoe-in to get a season 2, which it demands with its ending.
There is a second season of Rhythm and Flow now at #9, and Outer Banks season 5 Part 1 is still hanging on at #10. I would expect A Man on the Inside to remain at #1 for a long time as it’s the kind of show where word of mouth is going to spread about it, and I mean, it’s a Mike Schur series, and the man does not miss.
