CLEVELAND, Ohio – The reactions to the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland’s gender policy heated up this week, as a leading support group and political leaders, including Cleveland’s mayor, voiced opposing views on the issue.started a petition to reverse the policy, which lists rules for churches and schools across Northeast Ohio for people who “experience gender dysphoria and/or gender confusion.”
The directive has angered many residents, who fear it will harm LGBTQ parishioners, especially children. Supporters say it further supports the church’s belief that God made man and woman for marriage and acting on same-sex attraction is a sin.
