Clear Falls graduating senior Corey Kelly has committed to play football for Baylor University during signing day Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2023.Well aware of the number of big hits Corey Kelly recorded at Clear Falls during his career, the Baylor football coaches found the Knights linebacker to be music to their ears.
Immediately attracted to the Bears since his sophomore year in high school, Kelly wasn’t hesitant in signing his letter of intent with Baylor on Wednesday. The 6-foot-3 , 215-pound standout was elated to make his pledge official. The three-star recruit was one of the top unsigned players following the early period in December. That being said, he never waivered from the commitment he made to Baylor last June.
“Everyone at Baylor is for everyone else, not just themselves,” Kelly said. “The coaching staff and the players are one big family. The whole environment is great.” Kelly collected 71 solo tackles this past season, including 7.5 for loss. He also had two fumble recoveries, one blocked kick and one offensive touchdown.“I’ve told Corey for a long time that I think he has potential maybe to play in the NFL someday if he continues to work like he does,” Head said. “He has the dedication, and he’s so football smart. He just picks up on things very well. I know he’ll be a great fit in coach Aranda’s scheme.
