When City Council granted Perry’s request for leave in mid-November, the councilman said he would take “the appropriate measures as determined by medical professionals to ensure that this will never happen again.” However, it’s not clear whether he’s sought the help of counselors or other health care professionals.
The driver of the Wrangler fled. A witness followed the vehicle to its destination — Perry’s house on Calico Creek Drive — and returned to the accident scene to give the address to the driver of the Civic, who passed it on to the police. He was arrested Nov. 10 on a charge of fleeing an accident scene, a Class B misdemeanor. He was taken into custody again Dec. 28 on a driving while intoxicated charge, also a Class B misdemeanor. The DWI charge is punishable by up to six months in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.The day of his arrest on the hit-and-run charge, San Antonio released police body-camera video of Perry in the backyard of his home the night of the accident. He was disoriented and bleeding from a head wound.
