Utah Jazz star Jordan Clarkson and young big man Kai Sotto will more likely be out of Gilas Pilipinas' Europe training camp and series of tuneup matches as the national squad ramps up its preparation for the 2023 FIBA World Cup set to start on August 25.

In a statement released on Friday, the the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas said 'except for Clarkson and Sotto, the active players in the pool are on call for scheduled pre-World Cup pocket tournaments and tuneup matches in Europe against the Estonian national team, Finland, Lithuania and Latvia.'The 31-year-old Clarkson still has a year to go in his contract with the Jazz but has an option to negotiate for a new deal or test free agency.

Also part of the pool but still recovering from recent injuries are Roger Pogoy , Bobby Ray Parks and Calvin Oftana, who is still recovering from Grade 2 calf muscle strain, which he sustained in Gilas' opening match at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.The Philippines, which is co-hosting the World Cup with Japan and Indonesia, faces Dominican Republic in its tournament debut against at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
