A civil servant in Terengganu, Malaysia, has been remanded for five days for allegedly accepting a RM50,000 bribe in exchange for assisting in obtaining projects at a public university. The suspect, in his 40s, was arrested yesterday while giving his statement at the Terengganu SPRM office. He is suspected of accepting bribes worth approximately RM50,000 in exchange for supporting and approving payment claims for five university projects totaling approximately RM500,000. The suspect's wife was also arrested but released on SPRM bail.
KUALA TERENGGANU: Seorang penjawat awam ditahan reman lima hari bermula hari ini kerana disyaki menerima sogokan sebanyak RM50,000 sebagai balasan bantuan mendapatkan projek di sebuah universiti awam di negeri ini.
Menurut sumber, suspek berusia lingkungan 40-an itu ditahan kira-kira pukul 1 petang semalam ketika hadir memberi keterangan di Pejabat SPRM Terengganu. “Siasatan awal mendapati suspek dipercayai melakukan perbuatan tersebut sekitar tahun 2023 dan 2024 dengan menerima wang rasuah melalui transaksi pindahan ke akaun bank milik isterinya.
