James Brennand, 27, is shown in a booking photo provided by the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.SAN ANTONIO — City officials are seeking to withhold additional officer body camera footage of the shooting of 17-year-old Erik Cantu and other information, according to a letter sent by the city attorney’s office to the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
The video shows Brennand firing 10 shots in the teenager’s direction as Cantu fled the scene. Cantu was struck multiple times and taken to University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Multiple local media outlets have filed freedom of information act requests to obtain or inspect copies of the video and other records.
