Companies around the world should see this week’s age-related legal filings as a wake-up call

. The Citibank filing is the second age-discrimination claim from a former senior executive. The first one, filed in 2016 by Gilles Graham, then 58, was later withdrawn.

Five days ago, Ikea was named in the fifth age-related suit in just over a year. The first was filed in February 2018 on behalf of Frank Donofrio who complained the company favored younger workers over older ones for training and promotional opportunities. This filing was followed by two more complaints of age and gender discrimination for pay equity six months later.
