CIMB Bank says that at the end of the week, SecureTAC via the OCTO app will completely replace SMS OTP for all online card transactions.
CIMB Bank has published a notice on its site announcing that it will be replacing the use of SMS OTP with SecureTAC via its OCTO app for just about all types of transactions. Or more specifically, SecureTAC will be used 'for all CIMB Debit and Credit Cards Cards-Not Present 3D Secure transactions.
Or to put it simply, all online transactions using the bank's credit or debit cards that require the authentication of the card holder. This will go into effect at the end of the week, or more specifically on 18 April.On that note, the bank has previously put up a separate notice that it is discontinuing the CIMB Clicks app, so things will have to be done exclusively via the OCTO app.
In short, if you are a CIMB Bank customer, you'll have to migrate completely from the Clicks app to the OCTO app within the week anyway. The CIMB Octo app is available via the Apple App Store, Google Play, as well as Huawei AppGallery, though your device needs to have either iOS 12.5, Android 9 or newer.
