THE head of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-National Capital Region (CIDG-NCR) has been dismissed due to corruption allegedly involving his staff.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. confirmed the removal of Col. Hansel Marantan as CIDG-NCR regional chief on Thursday.According to Gen. Azurin, Col.
Marantan was removed from his post to pave the way for an investigation into corruption allegations stemming from a recent 'questionable' raid conducted by CIDG-NCR operatives in Manila.It was alleged that the operatives extorted money from those arrested during the raid in exchange for their release.Marantan and the operatives involved in the alleged corruption allegations have yet to issue statements.
