After finding a love for equestrianism at a very young age, the Kildare man is one of Ireland’s best known showjumper after four appearances at the Olympic Games over the years
Cian O’Connor is one of Ireland’s longest competing Olympic athletes after appearing at four different games.Away from his career, he credits his wife Ruth for all her support throughout their relationship.
How old is Cian and where is he from? Cian was born on 12 November 1979, making him 44 years old. He is originally from County Kildare. “I was always very close to both my sisters, Pippa had a little bit of interest in horses when she was younger as well. He continued: “We were a very close-knit family. We spent a lot of time with my mum’s parents, Karl and Doreen. My earliest memory is the love our grandparents had for us, particularly my grandmother Doreen who used to always spoil me a little more than the rest!”
The Federation Equestre Internationale also gave him a three-month ban from competition, but they found that Cian did not deliberately attempt to affect the performance of the horse.
