The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Tuesday that members across the world will soon be eligible to get free subscriptions to the church magazines.

SALT LAKE CITY — Magazines produced by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will now be available for free to church members around the world, with a subscription for each magazine available in each household.

"The church wants to give greater access to the words of the prophets, and we are excited to make the printed copies of the church magazines available at no cost," said Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf of the church's Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.An announcement on Tuesday said the print subscriptions for the Liahona, For the Strength of Youth and the Friend will be available starting on Tuesday to members with a church account in some areas of the world, including western North America. The no-cost subscriptions will roll out to other areas of the world over the next several months.

The church has published magazines and other periodicals since it began in the 1830s, and recently it has made efforts to make the publications more accessible, including publishing each magazine in 50 languages in print and even more languages digitally., the First Presidency of the church said, "Church magazines are a valuable resource for learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ and feeling a sense of belonging in his church."Relief Society General President Camille N.

"As I read the stories from members from around the world, I love seeing how we are a global church, all building the kingdom of God together," she said.
