Evans has been torn about an MCU return.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Chris Evans shares a positive update on potentially coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Captain America. It has been nearly half a decade since Evans finished his run as Captain America in the MCU in Avengers: Endgame, which was the end of an era for the franchise. While Sam Wilson has now become the MCU's new Captain America, many hold out hope of seeing Evans back in some capacity down the line.
In a new interview with GQ, Evans was asked once again how he looks at the prospects of coming back to the MCU. While he is open to it, it is important for Evans that a Captain America return doesn't just feel "like a cash grab or if it didn't live up to expectations." Evans also talked about being proud of his legacy as Captain America, as he shared the following:
Yeah, maybe. I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience. But I’m also very precious with it. It’s something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can’t believe it even happened. And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab or if it didn’t live up to expectations or if it just felt like it wasn’t connected to that original thing. So, no time soon. And ultimately I really hope to just maybe act a little bit less in my life.
How Chris Evans' Captain America Ending Avoids A Major Return Problem Despite not seeming to have any set appearances coming up, there is a massive positive takeaway from Evans' latest Captain America comments. If he were ever to come back to the MCU, Kevin Feige and his creative team would have to find a compelling way that would make him interested enough in reprising the character.
Whether he would show up as a Captain America variant or his main Earth-19999 incarnation - perhaps through time travel - it would be neat to see how the MCU could bring him back for one last adventure. If there is any upcoming MCU movie that he would make sense to show up in, it would either be Captain America: Brave New World or Avengers: Secret Wars. Until he returns, the world can relive Evans' entire run as Captain America in the MCU on Disney+ and through Blu-Ray/DVD.
