GEORGE TOWN: There are no plans to extend the public display of the Penang South Reclamation (PSR) environmental impact assessment (EIA) report, says Chief Minister, Chow Kon Yeow.

He said the EIA report would be displayed until the end of this month, adding that there was no discussion for its extension."I suggest that the public make full use of this second round of public display as we are not planning to extend it," he said at a press conference after the launch of caLLme Cab, a local e-hailing app for taxi services in Penang at Komtar on Wednesday .

Chow was responding to a question from the press if the state would consider extending the public display period from its current one-month schedule. Chow said that there was more than sufficient time for the public to view and submit feedback on the EIA report. The first EIA report was rejected by the Department of Environment in 2018 and a revised EIA was submitted early this year. The Penang South Reclamation development comprises three man-made islands totalling 1,800ha near Teluk Kumbar.

The EIA is currently on public display at Level Three, Komtar from 8am to 5pm apart from 11 other places.
