In a post on social media platform Weibo on Sunday, Sun said his past “victories, failures and challenges” have taught him how to meet life’s challenges and difficulties face on, and to “become stronger and more confident”. The triple Olympic champion was banned from competing for four years and three months for a dope test violation in 2018 in which he and members of his entourage smashed vials containing blood samples.Sun became the first Chinese athlete to win an Olympic gold medal in men’s swimming at the 2012 Games in London, winning both the 400m and 1,500 freestyle events.
