Chinese New Year foods cheaper in Sabah

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry lists prices of certain Chinese New Year foods as being higher in Sabah compared to prices in Sarawak and the Peninsula. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, January 12, 2023.

PRICES of white pomfret, white prawns and imported round cabbage, symbolic food normally found on the reunion dinner table of Chinese homes during the lunar New Year are generally cheaper in Sabah than in Sarawak or the peninsula. This was according to the ceiling price list of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.Effective July 2018, access to full reports will only be available with a subscription.
