A Chinese cybersecurity association has recommended a review of Intel products sold in the country, alleging that the company's processors contain frequent security flaws that threaten national interests. The Cybersecurity Association of China (CSAC) also accused Intel of attempting to suppress China by requiring suppliers to avoid using labor or products from Xinjiang region.

A Chinese cybersecurity association recommended on Wednesday a review of products that semiconductor giant Intel sells in the country, accusing it of threatening national interests.

The statement by the Cybersecurity Association of China -- an industry group with close links to the Chinese government -- said some processing units made by Intel were deemed to have “frequent” security flaws. “It is recommended to initiate a cybersecurity review of Intel’s products sold in China to effectively safeguard China’s national security and the lawful rights and interests of Chinese consumers,“ it added.

A spokespoerson at Intel said “security has long been a top priority for Intel, and we go to great lengths to protect our customers.”
