Catholic Charity in China, Jinde Charity, transferred the first disaster relief fund of 110,000 yuan (US$15,002) on behalf of various parishes and donors from across the country on January 10. This aid aims to assist survivors in clearing debris and rebuilding their homes. The 7.1-magnitude earthquake caused widespread damage in several villages within the fragile Himalayan region, tragically claiming the lives of at least 126 people and injuring hundreds more. The Catholic community in Wuxi city, located in southern Jiangsu province, also took action to raise funds for Tibet earthquake victims. Father Guo Mandong, the dean of the Wuxi deanery of the Nanjing Diocese, spearheaded the fundraising initiative. He urged the Wuxi Catholic community to respond swiftly, take practical steps, and actively participate in helping those in need. Father Guo emphasized the importance of embodying the traditional Chinese virtue of supporting one another during times of adversity.
