CHINA, through its foreign ministry, said the military cooperation between the United States (US) and the Philippines 'must not interfere' in the South China Sea (SCS) disputes and harm its maritime and security interests.
Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spokesman Wang Wenbin made the remark when asked to comment on the ongoing Balikatan exercises between American and Filipino troops.'Exchange and cooperation between relevant countries should not target any third party and should be conducive to regional peace and stability,' Wang said.
''Now the commitments that we made today will further integrate our strong bilateral ties into multilateral networks, including with Japan and Australia,' he said.'We discussed plans to conduct combined maritime activities with like-minded partners in the South China Sea later this year as we work to enhance our collective deterrence,' Austin said.
