Despite economic recovery, young people in China are finding it hard to land jobs, and Beijing can’t seem to find a solution
The government's failure to reverse a sharp rise in youth unemployment is becoming a bigger headache for BeijingChina's unemployment rate in May for 16- to 24-year-olds, grew significantly higher than a few months prior and far above the prepandemic rate of 13% or lower in most of 2019.The rise was surprising given that urban unemployment overall stayed at 5.2% in May, unchanged from April.
