Mcbride, 38, and Tremblay were two of likely thousands slathering on thick coats of sunscreen and lugging tubes through New Braunfels’ streets to take a dip in the cool river waters this weekend. Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start to tubing season and typically draws thousands looking to cool off. Comal County Sheriff Mark Reynolds told the New Braunfels Herald-Zeitung that he was preparing for “one of the largest Memorial Day weekends ever.”New Braunfels is home to the Guadalupe and Comal rivers, which both see tubers from all over each year.

Christi Oswalt, 33, was visiting from Florida. She said she went to San Antonio for a relative’s graduation on Friday. By Saturday afternoon, she was riverside with her San Antonian sister Kim Oswalt, 29, waiting for their full party of 10 friends and family to join them for tubing.
