The association’s efforts “demonstrate that our focus on maternal and infant health can make a real impact on lives saved, continuing our mission to make New Jersey the safest and most equitable place in the nation to deliver and raise a baby,” Murphy said in a statement.
The c-section rate for first-time, uncomplicated pregnancies declined by 18.6%, from 29.9 per 1,000 births in 2016 to 24.3 in 2021, the association’s report said.
Managing high blood pressure is done throughout the pregnancy by administering low-dose aspirin, Benito said.
