Matthew T. Williams, 43, Westfield, was arrested Wednesday after investigators said they linked up to 40 child porn videos to the IP address of his computer in the home where he lived alone, according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
A Union County man charged earlier this week with possession of child pornography was in the process of downloading illegal images when investigators entered his home with a search warrant, charging documents allege.
“At the time of the search, a peer-to-peer software application program was open on the seized computer and was downloading child pornography,” the complaint states. Homeland Security investigators charged Williams under federal law in part because the video files “traveled in interstate commerce” and were produced using materials that were shipped from out of state, alleges the complaint.
