In the motion dated March 6 proposed by lawyers Srividhya Ganapathy and Ajeet Kaur, it is backed by a whopping number of over 80 lawyers. The names on the list of those seconding the motion indicates that the support is multiracial and cuts across both genders. It also proposed for the Malaysian Bar to resolve to call upon the government to enact a new law in Parliament to do four things ― abolish child marriages, to raise the legal age of marriage to 18 for all children in Malaysia, to provide protection for children from child marriages, and provide solutions and protection for any children born from such marriages.

The motion also proposes for the Bar Council to work to ensure the repeal of election laws that disallow elected lawmakers from contesting in elections again if they had resigned, and also proposed for the Bar Council to work to ensure the Election Commission is empowered to investigate and prosecute in cases of election offences or when elected lawmakers are involved.
