Despite the Texans having the league's worst record and worst point differential — getting outscored by 109 points this season — Reid insisted that studying film of the Texans showed Smith, who is 90-99-1 as an NFL head coach, is much closer to turning around the Texans than most may think. Reid also noted injuries that have left the Texans without the likes of receiver Brandin Cooks, running back Dameon Pierce and first-round picks Derek Stingley Jr., and Kenyon Green.
