Chidimma Adetshina has confirmed that she will participate in Miss Universe Nigeria after the controversy surrounding her withdrawal from Miss South Africa. This decision follows an invitation from the organisers of the competition.
The beauty model has a Nigerian father, and her mother has Mozambican roots, but Chidimma was born in South Africa.The matter took a new turn after South Africa’s Home Affairs announced their preliminary findings, indicating that Ms. Adetshina’s mother may have committed fraud to register her at birth.
The Department has broadened their investigation to identify and pursue any officials involved in the alleged fraudulent scheme and is obtaining legal advice on the implications of the alleged fraudulent activity on Adetshina’s citizenship status. Also upon the completion of the investigation, Home Affairs intends to press criminal charges against all implicated parties.
