Flowers are nice, but the arrival of spring in Chicago can also be heralded by the return of street sweepers.
They say there are two seasons in Chicago — winter and construction — but there’s actually a third: street sweeping.The city’s street sweeping program kicks off April 1 and runs through mid-November or later, weather permitting.
Though some streets won’t receive their first pass of a sweeper until May, someone’s gotta go first. A, with maps of each ward and corresponding sweeping dates for each sector. Street sweeping also means the return of “no parking” restrictions. The Department of Streets and Sanitation is reminding people to look for the bright orange signs, posted two days prior to sweeping.
