The Chery Omoda E5 electric SUV will be available in Malaysia n showrooms from this weekend, February 24. Order books are open with an estimated price of RM160,000. The official launch is scheduled for March. The red car pictured represents the exact specifications for the Malaysia n market. It features a single powertrain with a front-mounted electric motor delivering 204 PS (150 kW) and 340 Nm of torque. This allows the SUV to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.
The battery is a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) unit, providing an estimated range of 430 km according to the WLTP cycle. The Omoda E5 supports AC charging at a maximum rate of 9.9 kW and DC fast charging up to 80 kW, enabling a 30-80% charge in 30 minutes. It also incorporates a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, capable of delivering up to 3.3 kW to power devices. The design features active grille shutters that adjust based on motor temperature and aerodynamic needs, replacing the ICE car's signature grille. The electric Omoda offers one-pedal driving support, a creep function, and a 'pocket brake' system that activates emergency braking when the 'Park' button is pressed while driving. Chery claims its EV has successfully passed water wading and bottom scrapping tests. Key features include LED projector headlamps, 18-inch alloy wheels, a powered sunroof, powered tailgate, puddle lamps, selectable drive modes, leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control (with rear vents), a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, marketed as a '24.6-inch curved 2K HD dual-screen'. The infotainment system is powered by a Qualcomm 8155 system on chip (SoC) and supports both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
